This week we beat Yale as our last home game of the year, and my last time playing at Princeton's stadium for my life. Prior to the game we were tied for number one in the league, and after the win we have maintained our top position in the league, still tied with Dartmouth. With one week left, either one or both of us will be league champions.
Personal Updates
I try not to look back at prior posts before typing a new one, but from memory I believe I said one of my goals for this week's game against Yale as getting one of the top offensive performers awards. I actually was able to share in the week's offensive game ball which was a huge accomplishment and defnitely something to be proud of. I have not yet received the famed bucket hat, but that will likely come on Tuesday. I was pretty happy with my performance overall, but as always, there were things I definitely could have done better with. We have one game left this season against Penn next Saturday and then I am done being a college athlete which is definitely weird.
School and social aspects of my life have been going decently well. We are coming to the end of the semester which means that things are coming to a close with my presidency and also with all of my classes. In the spring I will only have two classes and my thesis to deal with which seems like it will be an extremely light workload from nearly all angles. I have a lot of things that I need to get going on that I have been putting off until after my season, most notably finding a job and completing my thesis. I am hoping that I actually will take advantage of all of my additional free time and read more, finish my thesis early, workout and change my body composition, and find a job all by the end of the school year.
Books/Other
I definitely fell behind on podcasts this past week due to having several writing assignments due all at once, but I will be able to catch up on everything either this coming week or the following week once I am done with football, and especially once I go home for thanksgiving break. I think the podcasts have definitely helped to increase my knowledge about various things, and I especially like when there is a good guest that can provide wisdom from their field that I can apply to my own life. With the variety of things I read/listen to/watch, I see a lot of the most successful people from vastly different fields, and it is strange seeing how similar the advice that is given. Even though the actual experiences of people are vastly different, the emotions that people are dealing with are pretty much the same across experiences, and also across time. I think that I will try to read some more biographies of successful or interesting people once I get back into reading.
Gratitude
For this week's gratitude post I would like to say that I am thankful for my health. I have made it through 9 games and 9 starts without having any serious injuries which is really amazing. Even though I still have one game left and I got hurt last season pretty significantly right at the end of my last game, I am confident that I will be able to finish strong through the season due to my recovery and preparation, but again, you never know. An additional thing that is top of mind from this weekend that I am thankful for is my family and friends. This past weekend was the first game that some of my childhood friends were able to make it which was really cool to both get a win and have them see me play. Also, my grandparents and aunt and uncle made it to the game which was awesome. All of them have been to games before, but this was their first game this year and it was a big win against Yale to break the tie for the number one spot in the league, so I am both happy for the support and happy that they were able to experience a good game.
